MIGRATION TO THE NEXT GENERATION OF SAGE JOURNALS ONLINE COMPLETED

Los Angeles, CA (August 27th, 2010) — SAGE announced today the successful, complete migration of its more than 560 journals to the next generation of SAGE Journals Online, supported by HighWire 2.0 (H2O) technology.

“SAGE Journals Online is now a cutting edge, standards-based platform poised to expand reader services and to interact seamlessly with mobile and other emerging channels,” said John Sack, HighWire‘s Director. “SAGE and HighWire are working together to explore how to ensure that this important content is available to readers whenever and however they need it.”

Among the enhancements visitors will find are advanced search across more than 50 disciplines, improved navigation, a targeted portal page, as well as:

  • Abstract preview – mouse-over entries from tables of contents and search results providing instant pop-up previews of abstracts, without leaving the page
  • Tag-along navigation – content features following alongside while scrolling down the page
  • Feature hideaway – author affiliations, related links, and other optional functions, which can be expanded or hidden from view; and those preferences are retained throughout a session
  • Most Viewed and Most Cited articles lists for all journal-site pages
  • Journal and society branding – home page designs featuring journal titles and association logos, names and links to society sites

“The next generation of SAGE Journals Onlinenot only enhances the award-winning functionality of the platform, but is also designed for improved journal and society branding,” John Shaw, SAGE Executive Director, Publishing Technologies. “The three-column design keeps the important content front and center for the reader. Our society and advertising partners are very pleased with new opportunities for advertising that does not distract from the scholarly content.”

To mark the successful migration, SAGE is offering a six week free trial to the next generation of SAGE Journals Online starting September 1st. Visit  http://online.sagepub.com from September 1st for further information.

Further enhancements coming soon include adding publication history indicators and PatientInform links. For further information about the next generation of SAGE Journals Online visit www.sagepublications.com/nextgensjo.
