Debut Issue, January 2010

Genes & Cancer publishes original studies and reviews that are relevant to all aspects of cancer research, signal transduction, and developmental biology. Topics covered by the Journal will be divided into four broad categories:
  • Section One: Will include the structure and function of cancer-associated genes as well as genes encoded by the DNA and RNA tumor viruses. Topics covered will include the molecular oncology of human tumors, growth regulatory genes, microRNAs, cell cycle control, cancer stem cells, and cellular senescence. This section will also cover the signal transduction pathways that are mediated by these genes.
  • Section Two: Will be devoted to the role played by these genes in normal development. This section will cover studies that utilize gene knock-out and transgenic technologies to study the biological function of these genes in vivo.
  • Section Three: Will be devoted to genomics and epigenomics of cancer, which today is a burgeoning field. This will also include array-based and comparative genomic-based studies.
  • Section Four: Will be devoted to the discovery and mechanism of action of cancer therapeutics. This section will encompass small molecular experimental therapeutics as well as gene therapy approaches including siRNA- and shRNA-based therapies.
Genes & Cancer will be published monthly, beginning in 2010.
