"An excellent international publication" International Herald Tribune

"The Journal of Contemporary History is one of the outstanding learned journals of history in the English-speaking world." Times Literary Supplement

The Journal of Contemporary History is an international forum for the analysis of twentieth century history. Now over forty years old, the journal has long been established as essential reading for all scholars in contemporary European and international history.

The Journal of Contemporary History publishes articles covering a broad range of historical approaches including social, economic, political, diplomatic, intellectual and cultural. It is noted both for its intellectual rigour and the accessible style of its contributions.

JCH CONFERENCE GRANTS

The Editors have decided to use some of the journal's accumulated balances to fund conferences in any field of contemporary history as defined in the Journal of Contemporary History, that is, history within the memory of some persons now living. Other than this, there is no restriction of field, area or period. Applications should be sent to the Assistant Editor (office@jch.org.uk). They should include a full draft programme and detailed estimates of expenditure. Up to £4000 sterling will be awarded to fund each conference. Normally only one conference will be funded each year. Successful applicants must agree to offer the papers to the Journal of Contemporary History for publication in a special issue of the journal; only if the papers are rejected by the Editors may the organizers offer them for publication elsewhere. Applications should be received at least 6 months before the proposed conference is to start.

The Journal of Contemporary History has chosen to fund the conference Looted Art and Restitution in the Twentieth Century: Europe in transnational and global perspective, taking place at Newnham College, Cambridge on 18 - 20 September 2014.
