Clinical Trials: Journal of the Society for Clinical Trials is an international peer reviewed scholarly journal whose primary aim is the dissemination and development of knowledge about the design, conduct, analysis, synthesis, history, ethics, regulation and clinical or policy impact of all types of clinical trials and related medical research methodologies.

The journal's scope includes statistical methods for analyzing and designing all types of clinical trials, as well as methods to handle departures from randomization and quality of life assessment. It covers the use of economic outcomes, methods for handling missing data, sample size calculations for specific design features and methods for diagnostic tests.

Trials within the journal's scope address synthesis and evidence evaluation, which include assessment of the quality of clinical trials, comparisons of clinical trials and alternative research methodologies. It also aims to offer historical reviews of important trials or syntheses, followed up with interviews with senior investigators of landmark trials, methods for education and training in clinical trial methods and tutorials on any methods related to clinical trial conduct or analysis.

Clinical Trials remains on the cusp of the latest topics, and includes articles regarding ethics, such as empirical ethics research and informed consent, recent issues in drug or device development, as well as commentaries on recent debates or issues in clinical trials in general.
