BIR Best Paper Prize! Launched in 2012, this prize is awarded to the author of the best paper annually, and judged by the editors and editorial board. Business Information Review is the only journal devoted entirely to the practice of business information provision. Its content is especially tailored to the needs of business information professionals - whether information managers, librarians, knowledge managers, researchers, analysts, consultants, print or electronic publishers. Its readers are to be found in the corporate sector, in government agencies and other public institutions, in private consultancy, and in universities and business schools.
Sandra Ward is an information and knowledge management consultant and associate consultant of TFPL. She helps organizations capitalize on the experience and know-how of their staff and maximize the value of their information services.
Sandra started her career in information management at Wellcome Research Laboratories and then joined Glaxo Group Research Ltd. as Director of Information Services (UK). In 1999 Sandra moved to TFPL in London as Senior Consultant and Board Director responsible for its information management consultancy and training business. Professional commitments during her career include Chair of CILIP Council (2002-2006), President of the Institute of Information Scientists (1997-1998) and Chair of the British Library's Science Reference and Information Service Advisory Committee (1987-1996). She is currently involved in CILIP's sector panel promoting government, health and workplace information services. Sandra's publishing experience has been gained with the IIS Publications Committee and as an associate editor of Journal of Information Science.
Val Skelton is a freelance consultant and editor in the professional information and knowledge management sector. She is the Editor of Information Today's Europe E-news and works with other clients to assess and improve content presentation and impact. In 2010 she managed a major strategy review in the museum sector. Val has a wealth of experience in the publishing and information science world. She headed up Training and Learning at TFPL (1999-2008) where she managed and commissioned a full training programme for information, knowledge and records management professionals.
Prior to joining TFPL, Val spent twelve years as a publishing professional, commissioning books and journals on information science and management handbooks for information professionals. Professional activities have included membership of the CIG Committee.
