The Journal of Early Childhood Research provides an international forum for the dissemination of early childhood research, bridging cross-disciplinary areas and applying theory and research within the professional community. This reflects the world-wide growth in research on learning and development in early childhood and the impact of this on provision. The journal has relevance to policy-makers, practitioners and researchers in the multidisciplinary fields of early childhood education and care.

The Journal of Early Childhood Research publishes high-quality, international early childhood research findings from the forefront of current theory and practice. Research that generates new knowledge to enhance the lives of young children, their families and educators is a key feature of the journal.

The Journal of Early Childhood Research is interdisciplinary in scope, being true to the tradition that educational studies (and hence early childhood education studies) has traditionally drawn from psychology, sociology, philosophy, the history and law of education. The journal publishes papers in the fields of health, law, social work, therapy, education, sociology, history, and the arts and welcomes papers from non-traditional as well as established territories of early childhood education.

This journal is a member of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
