This book helps trainee teachers to understand where children 'go wrong' and helps them to tailor their teaching to address children's conceptual understanding and develop thinking.

As students became more confident after class experience they regularly used this book to explore and support ideas for planning and scaffolding.

I have suggested that my teaching placement students have a look at this to help them in classroom conversations. It is always good to open the debate between student/teacher/TA about misconceptions in maths and what better way to do it than with a book and the experience of others at the IWB-face. Good range of subject matter and clearly presented.
