A very useful text that students undertaking post qualifying mental health study or CPD will find helpful. There is a strong emphasis on recovery and a social perspective and the valuable contribution of social work to work in mental health.
This is a good basic text that sets out the requirements for post-qualifying practice in mental health. It is particulalry useful for students who have not undertaken any formal study for some time and need to get to grips with reflective practice and critical thinkinging in practice. Because my programme is interprofessional and has a small number of community mental health nurses as well as social workers but all need to practice from a strong social perspective, it is a useful text for the nurses to enable them to become familiar with the knowledge, skills and values that underpin the social perspective in practice.
