'This book is one of the most helpful I have seen in terms of helping undergraduate students understand the methods and principles involved in carrying out research for the final dissertation which many degree courses require. In essence it is a complete guide, covering every aspect of the process, outlining each step from selecting a theme to final writing and submission' -ESCalate
This book looks at both qualitative and quantitative approaches to the undergraduate major project, a useful guide for students

My original idea regarding this book was to be used in our Research Approaches module at UG level 2, which is a prep module for the undergraduate dissertations. Having this book recommended alongside research methods readings helps the students a lot in putting the method in a more practical context. It was also extremely useful to have this for UG supervision to recommend to students as a point of reference.

There are some useful diagrams in this text that assist students not familiar with research concepts. The strength of this text is that it is produced in a format that students want to read as a book - cover to cover - and that is a most useful attribute. We may put this book on the optional list next year.
